Seminole County is located in Florida state of the United States. As per the 2010 census, the population of the county was 422,718. The county seat is Sanford, which is also happened to be the largest city in the county. It is said that the name ‘Seminole’ was derived from cimarron, a Spanish word, which means ‘wild’ or ‘runway’.
The total area of this county is 345 sq mi (894 km2), of which 309 sq mi (800 km2) is land area and 36 sq mi (93 km2), 10.4% is water.

The adjacent counties are Volusia County, Florida – northeast, Orange County, Florida – south and west, and Lake County, Florida – northwest.
