Lawrence is a city in the U.S state of Kansas. It was founded in 1854 for the New England Emigrant Aid Company, by Charles Robinson.
The pro-slavery Quantrill’s Raiders burned the city in 1863 killing150 citizens. The city then later developed turning these historic buildings into restaurants and boutiques. It is the river city in Douglas County and also the county seat of Douglas County.

Bowersock Dam, KU Natural History Museum, the Spencer Museum of Art that displays collection of paintings, sculptures and photography, Fire Station No 4- a stone barn where runaway slaves hid in 1800s are the historically important places in the city. Boating, swimming, fishing and camping in Clinton Lake are really amazing. The city also offers a variety of mountain biking venues, including the trails at Clinton Lake and the river trails by the Kansas River, which gives an everlasting memory to the visitors.
