Djibouti Animals
Djibouti Animals can be categorized into mammals, birds, reptiles and scorpions. Djibouti has some rare animals and birds. Thousands of birds migrate in this country from Europe and Asia during the winter. Many tourists and bird watchers visit Djibouti to have a glimpse at the rare species of birds here. The habitats of Djibouti animals are threatened by over population and continuous use of the natural resources.
Red River Hog is one of the animals found in Djibouti. It mainly lives in the rain forests. The fur of the animal is usually reddish in color and its mode of nutrition is omnivorous. Some of the animals which can be frequently found in Djibouti are hyenas, jackals, antelopes and gazelle. African wild dog is considered now as an endangered species.
Different types of birds are also found in Djibouti. The birds which are found here include ostrich, grebes, tropic birds, pelicans, frigate birds, flamingos, ducks and many others.
The different types of reptiles found here are Nile crocodile, sand snake, puff adder snake and chameleons. There are around eleven different types of scorpions found here in Djibouti.
Various species of animals found in the country are considered as endangered. A number of NGOs and biologists have started taking great initiatives to conserve Djibouti Wild life.
