Thousands of different species of animals comprise the flora of Djibouti. Different species of scorpions can be found in Djibouti. All of them are venomous. Scorpions are arthropod animals belonging to the class Arachinda. Spiders, mites and ticks also fall under this category. There are more than thousand species of scorpions available in the world. Though all of them have poison, venoms of only twenty species of scorpions can be fatal to human beings. Around eleven species of Djibouti scorpion can be found in Djibouti. Djibouti scorpion can be found in deep forests, especially in the dense forests of acacia, olives and juniper around Mount Mousa.

Scorpions of Djibouti generally feed on a variety of insects, centipedes, spiders and other scorpions. The larger scorpions usually feed on smaller lizards, snakes, and mice. Most of the scorpions are carnivores in their mode of nutrition. The tips of the tail of the scorpions have venomous stingers. The venom contains a mixture of neurotoxins and a substance which vary according to the species of the scorpions.
