Vanilla is a popular flavoring and aromatic ingredient used in various food and fragrance products. The top 10 vanilla producing countries in the world are:

  • Madagascar
  • Indonesia
  • Comoros
  • Papua New Guinea
  • Uganda
  • Mexico
  • Tonga
  • India
  • Seychelles
  • Tahiti

Madagascar is by far the largest producer of vanilla, accounting for over 80% of the world’s supply. Indonesia is the second-largest producer and is known for its high-quality “Bourbon” variety of vanilla. Comoros is a small island nation in the Indian Ocean that produces a significant amount of vanilla, mainly the “Planifolia” variety. Papua New Guinea, Uganda, and Mexico are other significant vanilla producing countries, while Tonga, India, Seychelles, and Tahiti are relatively small producers. Vanilla is a labor-intensive crop that requires hand-pollination and a long maturation period, making it a relatively expensive ingredient.
