Lowell is a city in the U.S state of Massachusetts. The city named after Francis Cabot Lowell was incorporated as a town in 1826 and it later became a city in 1836. The city grew into a flourishing industrial center during the 19th century and by 1850, it turned out to be the second largest city in New England. Being a planned city, Lowell is the fourth largest city in the state.

Boston’s Logan International Airport is the main airport that serves the city. Vermont Transit Lines bus service is the other public transportation system in the city.

Lowell National Historical Park, Boott Cotton Mills Museum, New England Quilt Museum that displays both contemporary and historic quilts, the American Textile History Museum, the Whistler House Museum of Art that exhibits the works by American painter James Abbot McNeil Whistler and other American artists and Revolving Museum are the must visit historic sites in the city. Lowell Folk Festival – a three-day free folk festival draws tourists to the city. LeLacheur Park, Kerouac Park and Eastern Canal Park gives a wonderful experience especially in the evenings.
