History of Flagstaff City:

The long history of Flagstaff is best defined by its lumbering and logging activities. In the year 1876 lumberjacks founded this settlement and the place got its name ‘Flagstaff‘ from the nailing of an U.S. flag at the top of a tall pine tree. Later on the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad that came to Flagstaff in 1882 further assured and accelerated the economic growth of Flagstaff. Flagstaff is now home to a population of about 45,900.
