About New Hampshire

The US State of New Hampshire is the 9th state in the United States. On June 21, 1788, it was admitted to the Union, and New Hampshire achieved statehood. The State of New Hampshire’s nicknames is “The Granite State” and The White Mountain State.

New Hampshire Climate 

The climatic condition in New Hampshire is characterized as humid continental. Its characteristic features are cold and wet winters but warm and humid summers. 

During July, the average high temperature in the daytime in New Hampshire ranges from mid-70s °F (mid-20s °C) to low 80s °F (low 27 °C). The low nighttime temperature in July ranges from mid-50s°F to low-60s °F (13-15 °C).

New Hampshire History

Traces of the earliest inhabitants in the New Hampshire area date back to 12,000 years ago. On a seasonal basis, the prehistoric Native American Indians migrated to this place for food. In the 1500s, the first European explorers, mainly from France and England, started interested in this place. On a seasonal basis, the English people started fishing on the coast of New England. 

In 1623, the first permanent European settlement started in New Hampshire. By 1640, European settlers settled in four towns: Hampton, Exeter, Portsmouth, and Dover. Initially, the settlers in these towns and the Maine area remained within Massachusetts. New Hampshire emerged as a separate province in 1680. In 1719, Northern Ireland’s Scotch-Irish farmers started Londonderry’s prosperous settlement. 

Almost the entire population of the Native American Indians were forced out of the New Hampshire province by the 1740s. An armed resistance started in 1774 in New Castle, starting the American Revolution in the region. On June 21, 1788, New Hampshire attained statehood and became the ninth state admitted to the Union.
