Rugby World Cup 2015 opening ceremony – Sept 18, 2018

The opening ceremony of the Rugby World Cup will be held on September 18, 2015 at Twickenham Stadium. Following the ceremony, England will take on Fiji in the first match of the tournament. Reports say the theme of this year’s opening ceremony is ‘breaking new ground’. The theme will shed light on the birth of the popular sport and will take the spectators through the journey of the game to the Rugby World Cup 2015, which is being held in England and Cardiff.

2015 Rugby World Cup

The eight edition of the 2015 Rugby World Cup is all set to begin on September 18, 2015. The event will witness 20 teams competing for the World Cup and the winner of the tournament will be decided on the finals that would be held on October 31, 2015, at the Twickenham Stadium in London.

The 20 team would be divided into four pools – Pool A, B, C and D, with five teams comprising a pool. The winner and runner up of every pool would head to the next stage – quarter-finals, which would begin on October 17th. Out of these eight teams, four will proceed to the semi-finals, which would be held on October 24th and 25th.

On October 30th, the loser of the first semi-final will meet the loser of the second semi-final to compete for the third place, while on October 31st, the winners of the two semi-finals will meet to decide as to who would bag the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
