These places of learning and worship were built during the 15th century. The Voronet Monastery Church in Bucovina is known all over the world as the ‘Sistine Chapel of the East. This epithet is due to the abundance of frescoes inside the church. The frescoes are painted in a unique blue color. This special blue is termed ‘Voronet blue.

The architecture of these church structures is an exclusive mix of traditional timber design with Gothic architectural style. The churches are made of thick logs and have painted biblical designs within the interiors of the church. They were constructed during the 18th and 19th centuries.
