Peru Geography and History
Peru is a country situated in the western parts of South America. It borders the South Pacific Ocean, and shares borders with Chile and Ecuador. It is a wonderful country with varied geography and terrain and a rich heritage of history.
The terrain of Peru has wide variations, from coastal plains and grasslands, to the highlands and the Andes mountains, to the dense jungles of he tropical basin in the east, and the Atacama desert in the southern regions. Such variations of geography and terrain, and a number of wonderful locations make Peru a delight for tourists.
Peru also has a rich history, being the seat of many great Andean civilizations. Most notable among these is the Inca civilization. Peru is host to this great civilization, and there are many fantastic Inca monuments in Peru, including the fabled city of Cuzco, and Machu Picchu, the lost city of Incas, one of the seven wonders of the world.
