Norfolk Island climate features a sub-tropical and mild climatic condition. There is a little seasonal variation in the temperature of Norfolk Island. The island witnesses a high relative humidity that ranges from 74% to 79% at 9 am and 71% to 74% at 3 pm. Norfolk Island climate is under the domination of high pressure that is created by the wind in the northern and southern part of the island.

The winds blow from east to south-east at autumn and summer in Norfolk Island. The average maximum temperature during the summer season varies from 23°C and 25°C. The average minimum temperature varies from 18°C and 20°C in summer months. On 11th February, 1996, the temperature was 28.4°C, which happens to be the highest temperature till date. One should carry a hat and sunscreen lotion during summer in Norfolk Island.

During winter in Norfolk Island, the winds blow in a south to south-westerly direction. The average maximum temperature during the winter season varies from 18°C to 19°C.

On the other hand, the average minimum temperature varies from 13°C to 15°C at winter time. On 29th July, 1953, the temperature dipped down to 6.2°C, which is the lowest temperature recorded in the island.

Monsoon in Norfolk Island brings a lot of shower in the months of May to August. The median annual rainfall and annual mean rainfall of the island is 1302 mm and 1312 mm respectively. June is the wettest month and November is the driest month in the island. The average rainfall during June is 147 mm and during November it is 75 mm. On an average, rainfall takes place for 181 days in the island.

Winter and spring witness thunderstorms. Thunderstorms in winter are also occasionally accompanied by hailstorms. Tropical cyclones visit the island in the beginning of the year.
