A flammable liquid, crude oil is a fossil fuel occuring naturally. Consisting of a complex mixture of hydrocarbons and other liquid organic compounds, crude oil or petroleum is generally black or dark brown in color. It is recovered mostly through oil drilling.
It is estimated that the world consumes about 88 million barrels of oil each day. However, it has been observed that excess use of crude oil can have a negative impact on the Earth’s biosphere, resulting in the release of pollutants and greenhouse gases into the air. The emission of such harmful gases might damage ecosystems through accidents like oil spills.
The World Map of Crude Oil Producing Countries gives a list of the ten largest oil producing countries in the world.
As shown in the map, Saudi Arabia is the largest producer of crude oil in the world.
In 2010, it produced 10521 thousand barrels of oil each day.The United States ranks third in oil production even though it consumes far more oil than it produces.
The fourth-largest producer of crude oil is China followed by Iran, Canada, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Nigeria, Kuwait, Iraq, Venezuela, Norway, and Algeria.
