Lebanon Weather is essentially Mediterranean in Nature. The country displays a weather which is varied chiefly because of its topographical features like huge mountain ranges and strong westerly winds.

The summers are usually hot and dry while the winters are chilly .It is the winter season which witnesses the maximum amount of rainfall. The day to day temperature ranges between 38 degree Celsius during the day and the nocturnal temperature is less than 16 degree Celsius.

The weather of Lebanon is different from other countries in the sense that there is no distinct rainy season and the monsoon showers take place during the winters. Again the rainfall does not take place uniformly .While there are heavy rains on particular days, others remain on the drier side. It is said that a thin layer of snowfall takes place once in fifteen years but frosts occurs on some occasions. Khamsin a hot wind coming from the Egyptian desert keeps the weather of Lebanon warm.

As with other coastal regions, the weather in the coastal areas is far more pleasant than in the mainland. Tourists and locals spend their winters in the coastal regions while the mountains prove to be a great sojourn during the summers to beat the heat.

Screened by the Lebanon Mountains, the anti -Lebanon mountain range and the Biqa valley are not at all affected by the moderate climate of the coastal belts. These valleys receive less rainfall and experience a great difference of regular and annual temperatures. In between these two ranges the Biqa Valley receives less rainfall than the Anti-Lebanon Mountains. The mode of precipitation in the Anti-Lebanon Mountains is in the form of snow. As a result the temperatures in this area dip to an extreme during the winters.
