El Salvador History
El Salvador History is unique in itself and it provides with all the important details about the rich historical phases through which this country has evolved as an important Central American country.
Early History of El Salvador
El Salvador was initially made up of two Indian states and other important territories. The native people of the land were known as Pipils, belonging to the nomadic Nahua tribe. The culture and lifestyle of the Nahua people was known to be very much similar to that of Aztecs.
Spanish Conquest of El Salvador
Spain tried a number of times to give shape to its objective of capturing El Salvador. But Spain failed in its attempt to seize El Salvador mainly due to the daring fight that was put forth by the Pipils. Finally, in 1524 Spain succeeded in establishing its rule under the guidance of Pedro de Alvarado.
Independence of El Salvador
The Central American countries have always been the advocate of their independence. These countries proclaimed their independence from the Spanish rule in 1821. United Province of Central America was formed in 1822, which consisted of all the five Central American countries. Finally, with the dissolution of the United Province of Central America, El Salvador proclaimed its independence.
Governmental Transformation in El Salvador
After gaining independence, the country was mainly ruled by the aristocrats and military sectors of the society. But, after facing a lot of political unrest and complications, the government of El Salvador was finally transformed from a military dictatorship to a republic.
