The Chile Literature has been an enriching the culture of Chile for decades. The major contribution to Chilean literature has been by the Nobel Prize Winner poets. The literal compositions of Chile is famous globally.

The great poets Pablo Neruda and Gabriela Mistral share their honor of the Nobel Prize with their birthplace Chile. The homes of these valued poets have been transformed into museums that pull literary pilgrims to this nation. Literature in Chile would have been vague without the fabulous creations of Neruda (Heights of Machu Picchu, Canto General and the autobiographical Memoirs). His books are widely sold and preserved in many international languages, the most wanted one being the English translation. Mistral’s writings are preserved, but priceless.

The modern Chilean authors have gained an international recognition in the literary world. The most famous among them being Isabel Allende, wrote great novels like House of the Spirits, Eva Luna, Of Love and Shadows are all bestsellers through out the world. Luis Sepulveda is the author of the popular book – The Old Man Who Read Love Stories.

Ariel Dorfman the great critic, novelist, and also playwright, wrote the world famous play of Death and the Maiden. This famous literary piece was made into a film. This film received critical acclamation from all corners of the world. Chile Literature is still on a journey tasting success with every new creation. Recent plays like La Negra Ester written by Roberto Parra even today make hearts crave for Chile’s literary works.
