Bangor is a city in the U.S state of Maine. In 1791, the settlers from the area decided to incorporate it into a town. Earlier known as the “The Queen City of the East”, it was a center of the timber and logging business in the 19th century and was said to be the richest city per capita in the world. It is the county seat of Penobscot County and also a major commercial center for eastern, central and northern Maine. It is now the third-largest city in Maine.

Climate:
Bangor has very clearly defined seasonal changes. Spring lasts from late March to May. Summer lasts till September with July being the warmest month. Late May and August are known to be rainy and windy. Autumn brings drier and cooler weather. October is the foliage season in Bangor when trees change color. Winter sets in about November and January is the coldest month. There is snow in February along with strong Northeastern winds.
Places to Visit:
The 31-foot high statue of Paul Bunyan is a wonderful sight in the center of the city. Main Forest and Logging Museum, Cole Land Transportation Museum that displays trucks, buses and machines, Hudson Museum that exhibits Pre-Columbian and Native American artifacts, Page Farm and Home-a rural history museum are the important points to be visited in the city. Besides this, a walk through the nearby parks, forests and waterways gives a fantastic experience to the people especially the tourists. A wide variety of outdoor activities including hiking, sailing, canoeing, hunting, fishing, skiing and snowmobiling should not be missed.
