by Vishul Malik

Originally there were five counties in the Wyoming Territory. In 1867 Laramie and Carter county was established. In 1868 Albany and Carbon County were established. Uinta county, an annexed portion of Idaho and Utah, was established in this period. The county extends from Montana (including Yellowstone Park) to the Wyoming-Utah boundary. On July 10, 1890,  Wyoming state was admitted to the Union as the 44th state with 13 counties. After the statehood of Wyoming, ten more counties were created. The FIPS code (Federal Information Processing Standard) of Wyoming State is 56, which, when combined with any three-digit county code, would be written as 56XXX.
