The Champions Tour organizes tournaments for golfers above the age of 50. This tour is part of the US PGA Tour and hosts 30 tournaments every year. Initially there was only one tournament for the seniors, i.e., the Senior PGA Championship . In 1978, another tournament, the Legends of Golf , was held which popularized the concept for a tour for the senior players. The tour officially came into existence in 1980 and came to be known as the Senior PGA Tour till 2002. Its logo was based on the US PGA Tour one before it was changed. The tour came to be known as the Champions Tour.
Barring two tournaments, the rest are held in the US . Out of the two one is held in England while the Puerto Vallerta Blue Agave Golf Classic is held in Mexico . Most of them are played over 54 holes and there are no cuts for these tournaments. However, the five majors are played over 72 holes. The total prize money for 2006 was more than $52 million.

European Tour
