Estadio Nacional de Brasilia :

Estádio Nacional de Brasília Mané Garrincha is the newly inaugurated national stadium in Brasilia, one of the stadiums hosting the FIFA World Cup 2014. Some of the essential features of this stadium are environmental friendly construction, lowered pitch for better viewing from every seat, metal stands and roof, and a new façade. The final estimated cost of its building is more than R$ 1 billion. The total capacity of Estádio Nacional de Brasília is 72,888 seats. One of the essential aspects of this stadium is the architecture, which was essentially inspired by the works of Oscar Niemeyer, who was renowned for designing the city of Brasilia.

About the City :

Brasilia was officiallyfounded on April 21, 1960, as the capital of Brazil. Currently, the estimated population is around 3 million, which makes it the 4th most populous city of the country. A significant amount of political power and federal administrative power is centered here. Public administration is the biggest contributor to this city’s economy, accounting for 54.8% of GDP. The other economic components that contribute significantly are service sector (28.7%), industrial sector (10.2%), commerce (6.1%), and agriculture-based businesses (0.2%). Brasilia is considered among the costliest 50 cities of the world.

The most significant part of Brasilia is Three Powers’ Square or Praça dos Três Poderes, where you will find the Supreme Federal Court’s headquarters as well as seats of Legislative and Executive Power. In terms of architecture, Brasilia is considered as an avant-garde city. Interestingly, Brasilia is the only place in the world which was constructed in the twentieth century that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Estádio Nacional de Brasília is situated in the central part of Brasilia. The Central metro station of Brasilia is just 2 kms away from the stadium. The main long-distance bus terminal, Rodoferroviaria, is located 4.5 km away from Estádio Nacional de Brasília. There are plenty of local buses and metro for transport across the city.
