Ploiesti is one of the important Romanian cities, mainly known for its oil industry, which includes oil production and oil refining.


Ploiesti is considered to be a strong industrial center in Romania. This Romanian city is located to the north of Bucharest, in the Wallachia region. The city is regarded as one of the oldest cities in Romania.

In the earlier times, this city was a central point of trading and marketing in Romania. Any traveler, who wanted to cross the Carpathian Mountains, had to cross the city of Ploiesti. The city served as a connection between the Carpathian Mountains and Bucharest. Presently, the Romanian city of Ploiesti is the ninth-largest city in Romania.

Like almost all cities of Romania, Ploiesti also has a long and ancient history. The city was founded way back in the late 16th century. In those times, the city was a major trade and handicraft manufacturing center in Romania. The city of Ploiesti in Romania can be easily reached from Bucharest as well as from Brasov. The Romanian Revolution in 1989 changed the economic scenario of the country and the city. Ploiesti had rapid economic growth and large amounts of foreign investments improved the economic conditions of the city.

There are many small villages in close proximity to Ploiesti city. Developmental plans are carried out in all these villages to pull them at par with Ploiesti. The oil industry in this city of Romania is very well developed, with oil production and refining industry. The city not only concentrates on industries, but it also has cultural sides. There are many museums, historical architecture, archeological sites, and churches in Ploiesti, which act as tourist attractions.
