Arges County in Romania is located between the mountain ranges of Piatra Craiului and Fagaras. On its northern sides, by the bare peaks of Leota Massif on the eastern side, by the Gavanu-Burdea plains on
its southern frontiers, and by the watershed of Olt and Arges and Vedei basins on the western borders. The important mountain peaks covering the entire mountain range of the Southern Carpathians are the Moldoveanu Peak at the height of 2543 meters and the Negoiu Peak which is 2535 meters high. There are also the glacial lakes of Urlea, Balea, and Podragul enveloping Arges.
The first administrative capitals of Tara Romanesca were established in Arges in Romania. The various historical attractions of the Arges of Romania include the famous fortress residence of Tara Romaneasca and the Curtea de Arges. Arges has the important cities of Campulung, Piteti and Curtea de Arge and the towns of Colibai, Topoloveni and Costeti. The neighboring regions of Arges include Olt, Dimbovita, Teltorman, Vilcea, Sibiu and Brasov. Some of the famous resorts in Arges are the Pensiunea Ruxi, Pensiunea Dracula and Pensiunea Meridian.
