Education in Namibia
For the age group of six to sixteen Namibia education is mandatory for a period of ten years. Namibia education includes schools of Namibia, University of Namibia, Polytechnic of Namibia, etc.
The duration of primary education in Namibia is seven years and the duration of secondary education is five years.
In the year 1998 the primary schools of Namibia had 400,325 students and the secondary schools had 115,237 students. 80% children were recruited in the primary school of Namibia and 34 % children were recruited in the secondary school in 1998.
The illiteracy rate of adult in Namibia during the year 2000 was 17.9%.
The adult students of Namibia attended tertiary educational institutes.

University of Namibia
The University of Namibia is situated in Windhoek. University of Namibia was set up by the Parliament Act on 31st August in the year 1992.
The University of Namibia Windhoek is the only university which provides doctorate in Nama language.
The seven faculties of the University of Namibia are-

- Economics and Management Science Education
- Humanities and Social Science
- Law
- Medical and Health Science
- Science
The application fee of the university of Namibia for Namibian students is N$ 70 and for international students the application fee is N$ 125. The late application fee for Namibian students in this university is N$ 125 and for international students the late application fee is N$ 205. The tuition fees for Namibian or SADC students is N$ 7 150 and for Non-SADC students the tuition fees is N$ 14 300.
The University of Namibia has four campuses and they are Ogongo Campus, Neudamm Campus, Northern Campus and Regional Centres. The main campus of this university is located at the intersection point of Western Bypass and Mandume Ndemufayo Avenue. All the campuses are very innovative and beautiful.
The University of Namibia has its own radio station. 97.4 is the radio station of the University of Namibia which was set up during the year 2000. The students of this university operates this radio station.

Polytechnic of Namibia
Polytechnic Of Namibia was set up in the year 1994 by the Namibian Parliament act 33. Polytechnic Of Namibia is situated in Windhoek.
Polytechnic Of Namibia is a university of technology which provides full-time, part-time, distance education and extra-curricular activities.
In January 1996 Polytechnic Of Namibia became a self-governing institution. Presently 7000 students are recruited in Polytechnic Of Namibia.
Certificates, bachelor, national diplomas and masters degrees are provided by Polytechnic Of Namibia.
The five academic schools of Polytechnic Of Namibia are School of Engineering, School of Information Technology, School of Business and Management, School of Communication, Legal and Secretarial Studies and School of Natural Resources and Tourism.
Polytechnic Of Namibia arranges career fairs through which they help students in exploring the options of their career.
The campus of Polytechnic Of Namibia has three hostels which provides good accommodation.
