Blantyre is the chief industrial as well as commercial focus of Malawi. Blantyre includes a total land area of twenty kilometers. Blantyre city of Malawi has its sister city which is located along with it.

The name of the sister city of Blantyre is Limbe. Blantyre city has got its name from South Lanarkshire, Scotland. South Lanarkshire, Scotland was the birth place of the famous explorer called David Livingstone.

As per the survey report of the year 2003 the total population of Blantyre is 646,235. In this region of the Republic of Malawi you can find a small refugee population which is near about twenty five thousand. All of these refugees living in this region play very influential role through out the region. These refugees came here mainly from South Africa, Europe and England.

Blantyre, the city of the Republic of Malawi is the largest city of this nation. Blantyre is the capital of the Blantyre District which is located in the southern region of the Republic of Malawi. Blantyre city includes the headquarter of a famous Malawi company called the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation. The Malawi Broadcasting Corporation is the state broadcaster of country and also provides the only television channel of Malawi. The Supreme Court of Malawi is also located in this city of Malawi.

This big city of Malawi offers a number of cafes and restaurants to the visitors of this nation. Blantyre has a number of historical as well as cultural places of interest to offer the visitors of Malawi, which include the original town hall, All Angels church, Mandala House, St Michael, the Museum of Malawi and Carlsberg Brewery. The National Museum which is located in Blantyre is a great place to visit. Here in this museum you can see the traditional artifacts and weapons of Malawi. Blantyre city of Malawi is served by the Chileka Airport.
