Madagascar Central Highlands form the main center of the island nation.The major cities and towns of the island are located in the Central Highland region of Madagascar. This region is higher than the coastal areas and the elevation of the land escarpment starts at 900 meters. The climate of the Central Highlands is pleasant throughout the year.

One of the most fertile regions in Madagascar, the Central Highlands are well known for the rice fields. The terraces of the Central Highland area are used for the cultivation of rice. The soil layer is suitable for the growth of many sorts of crops, fruits and vegetables. Economy is much dependent on the agricultural produce.
