Central Transdanubia is one of the major statistical regions of Hungary. It is a part of the region Transdanubia. Central Transdanubia includes the Komarom-Esztergom, Fejer and Veszprem counties and covers an approximate area of 11,263 km2. The population of this region is roughly 1.1 million.
The Central Transdanubia is located in the center of Hungary and the Danube River runs through the eastern and northern part of the country. The region comprises 4 big towns. The key industries of this area are listed below:
- Mechatronics and automotive industry
- Environment industry
- Logistics
- Tourism
- The manufacturing of Mechatronics components
- Manufacture of electronics
The Central Transdanubia houses many renowned multinational and Hungarian companies in the automotive, electronic and food industries. Apart from this, in this Hungarian region, there are around nine institutions of higher education. The University of Veszprem is probably the most popular among them. The other one is the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
The Central Transdanubian Regional Development Agency contributes a lot in the over all development of this region. It mainly promotes the innovation work and the entrepreneurial activities. In the year 2004, the Central Transdanubia succeeded to complete the local Innovation Strategy project, and sanctioned the Strategy and Action Plan and the regional innovation.
