Ningxia, one of the northwestern provinces of China, is a landlocked area surrounded by Inner Mongolia in the north, Gansu in the south and Shanxi in the east. The major topographical features of Ningxia, China, include the Kongtong Shan and the Nanhua Shan mountains. The most important river draining the province is the Yellow River.
