The Armenian schools are dedicated to educating the whole child and to preserving the Armenian language and culture. Schools of Armenia also provides a stimulating environment designed to cultivate the intellectual, spiritual, physical, social, and emotional growth of its students.

The system of education of the Republic of Armenia includes pre-school, general secondary, special secondary, vocational (professional-technical), higher and post-graduate education. The modern amenities of the Armenia’s schools provides an atmosphere conducive to learning. Religious instructions at the primary level in the schools in Armenia awaken children’s awareness of the many communities to which they belong.

There are 1418 secondary schools, 25 state colleges, 4 academic schools, 11 private high schools, 15 private schools (approximately) in the Armenia. The first level of education in Armenian schools starts with elementary school (1-3 grades) to provide literacy for pupils.The second level of education in Armenian schools starts with basic school (4-8 grades) to implementation of general education. The third of education in Armenian scholols begins with high school (9-10 grades) which offers complete secondary education, and is realized in the following forms:

  • General education study
  • colleges (deepened study of some subjects)

Graduate students of the high school obtain certificate of complete secondary education in Armenia.

Students of Armenian schools are grouped according to ability and language background. Progress depends on language facility, intellectual maturity and general attitude towards Armenian.
