The Ural Mountains are often used as a dividing line between the two parts of Russia. Most of Russia’s population lives in the European part, even though most of its landmass lies in Asia.

Despite this, Russia is considered a European nation and is part of numerous European organizations and associations such as the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, and the Eurasian Economic Union.

What is European Russia?

European Russia, also known as Western Russia or simply Russia, refers to the western part of Russia that lies in the continent of Europe. It comprises the westernmost portion of Russia’s vast territory, extending from the Ural Mountains in the east to the borders with countries such as Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, and Norway, etc. in the west and northwest.

European Russia is home to most of Russia’s population and includes several of its largest cities, such as Moscow (the capital), St. Petersburg, and Nizhny Novgorod.

This region has many different types of places, from cold areas with frozen ground in the north to areas with large mountains and grassy plains in the south. Not many people live here compared to other places.

The largest and most famous part of Asian Russia is Siberia. This area is also where you can find the Ural Mountains, which separate Europe and Asia. These mountains have many valuable minerals and are important for industries in Russia.

In Asian Russia, there are lots of different groups of people with special cultures and languages. Some of these groups are ethnic Russians, but many others are indigenous. They have their own unique cultures and languages. For example, Turkic and Mongolic peoples are living there.
