The Central African Republic is a nation located in the center of Africa, completely landlocked and sharing borders with Chad, Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of the Congo, and Cameroon. The Central African Republic has an area of 622,984 square kilometers (240,534 square miles) and a population estimated at 4.4 million.

The capital and largest city of the Central African Republic is Bangui. The country is divided into fourteen prefectures, two economic prefectures, and one autonomous commune. The economic prefectures of the Central African Republic are Nana-Grebizi and Sangha Mbaere, while the commune is the capital, Bangui.
