Egypt Air was established in 1932 June and it started its operations from the next year. It was established in association with the Airwork Company. It began to run its activities under the name of Misr Airwork. Like few other major airlines, it also has a historical past. It is assumed that during the Second World War, the government of Egypt took control of the airline and in 1949 its name was changed into Misr Air. Egypt Air was also the first airline in the Middle East that operates jet liners.
The chronological history of this Egypt Air has been listed below:
In 1949, Misr Air bought 10 Vickers Vikings and the next year, it put into service the Languedoc, a French Aircraft.
In 1956, Misr Air tied up with Syrian Airlines and as a result, a new airline called United Arab Airlines-UAA came into existence.
In 1960, UAA bought Comet 4-C jets and became the first carrier in the Middle East that used Comets.
In 1968, UAA introduced the Boeing 707-320c in order to deal with the enhanced international traffic and also begun operating bigger routes.
In 1969, Egypt Air became the first airline of the Middle East and begun to fly Boeing 707s.
In 1971, Syrian Airlines and Misr Air split that resulted in a new airline called Egypt Air.
