About the Universities in Montana
Montana has a number of public and private universities noted for their literary acclaims. The Montana University System was created on July 1, 1994 to streamline higher education in the state. The system has fourteen campuses that are divided into two State University Systems, Community Colleges, Tribal Colleges, and Independent Colleges. Over 47,000 students enroll in the system each semester. The major tribal colleges in the state are: Fort Peck Community College, Little Big Horn College, and Salish Kootenai College. Besides, there are three small private colleges: Carroll College, Rocky Mountain College and University of Great Falls.

Montana State University:
Established in 1893, Montana State University is a public university located in Bozeman, Montana. It is the land-grant university of the state and primary campus in the Montana State University System. There are over 13,500 students in the university with a faculty of 1,040 members. Waded Cruzado is the president. The university offers courses in arts architecture, business, education, hospitality, and engineering.
The University of Great Falls:
Located in Great Falls, Montana, the University of Great Falls is a private Roman Catholic university. It was founded in 1932 with the mission “to provide students with the opportunity to obtain a liberal education for living and for making a living.” Eugene J. McAllister is the president of the university. Some of the major programs offered by the institution are business, arts, literature, criminal justice, human services, elementary education, counseling psychology, and paralegal studies.
Fort Peck Community College:
Established in 1969, Fort Peck Community College is one of the seven tribal community colleges in Montana. It focuses on providing higher education to the backward classes. The main campus of the college is located in Poplar. James E. Shanley is the president of the college. The institution offers programs in elementary education, business, technology, information technology and psychology.
