The current flag of Texas was adopted in year 1993 after revisions were made under the state statutes. According to the history of the Texas flag, the present Lone Star Flag of Texas was actually the official flag of the Republic of Texas in 1839. The first proposal of this flag was introduced by William Wharton in the Third Congress of the Republic. Not much is known about the person who designed this flag. Prior to this the Republic of Texas had another flag, which had an azure field, with a big 5-pointed golden star in the center.
