San Antonio is named after Saint Anthony of Padua. In terms of population, this is the second largest city in Texas and the eighth largest in the United States. San Antonio is famous in the world for its River Walk and for Alamo, which is a shrine of national independence.

The Fiesta is a widely celebrated festival of San Antonio. This festival is held every year to commemorate Mexico’s independence from Spain. It is held in the month of September every year. This 10-day event is the city’s largest festival and attracts more than 3 million visitors each year. Scores of events are held everyday, which include carnivals, street parties, parades, art exhibits, sports, debutante balls, and ethnic feasts. Some events, which you cannot afford to miss are the River Parade, the Battle of Flowers Parade, and the Flambeau Parade. There are a lot of colorful and vibrant floats and marching bands in these parades.

Shopping in San Antonio:

The Alamo Quarry Market has been voted as the best shopping spot of San Antonio. This was a former cement plant, which has now been renovated to a shopping destination. The piece de resistance of the shopping center is the enormous Quarry Market Movie Theater, which features more than eight screens in its theater. Some of the shops offering specialty merchandize include Christo’s Home, Restoration Hardware, Whole Foods Grocery, and Pottery Barn, etc. You are sure to find whatever you are looking for in this huge market complex.
