Tennessee has dozens of historic sites, museums, memorials, sandy lake beaches, and state parks throughout the state. The state offers countless opportunities for outdoor recreation, like boating, kayaking, white water rafting, camping, fishing or hiking. Whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River is a great recreation and adventure. The state has twenty-three state parks; Cherokee National Forest, and Cumberland Gap National Historical Park are the most famous in Tennessee.

Reelfoot Lake
: Originally formed by an earthquake, the lake is a beautiful wooded area attracting a large number of visitors each year. Located in the northwest portion of Tennessee, the lake has remains of a dense forest and the shallow waters are covered with lotus flowers, giving the lake a peculiar beauty. The Reelfoot Lake State Park is located here.
The Cotton Museum:
Located in Memphis, Tennessee, the Cotton Museum is a historical and cultural museum. It was opened on March 2006. The museum exhibits the history of the cotton industry in the state through many artifacts and educational programs.
Dollywood
: Owned by entertainer Dolly Parton and the Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation, Dollywood is a theme park located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The park offers exciting rides, display of traditional crafts and music of the Smoky Mountains area, and national and local musical acts.
Parksville Beach
: It is a sandy river beach located in Polk County, Tennessee. From fun to campgrounds, the beach offers it all. Located beside Scenic Highway 64, the Parksville lake offers opportunities for swimming, boating and camping with vistas of Cherokee National Forest.
The Hermitage
: Named in honor of the home (The Hermitage) of seventh president of the United States, Andrew Jackson, the Hermitage is a section of Metropolitan Nashville, Tennessee located in eastern Davidson County. Parts of the 1955 Disney film featuring Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier, were shot here.
The Tennessee State Museum
: Located in Nashville, the Tennessee State Museum depicts the history of the state. It displays exhibits on pioneer life, evangelical religion, military traditions, and presidential lore. The museum has the largest collection of uniforms, paintings, weapons, and battle flags from the Civil War in the United States.
