About New York

New York is the 11th state of the United States, which was admitted to the union on July 26, 1788. Albany is New York’s capital city. New York City is the largest city and also the largest metro-urban area in New York state.

New York Flag

New York History

The early history of New York dates back to around 10,000 B.C. Iroquoian and Algonquian were the two major cultures that were dominated by 1100 A.D. In 1524, Italian Giovanni da Verrazzano discovered New York, starting the European era. The Dutch were the first to claim the land in 1609.
