Springfield is the capital of the U.S. state of Illinois. Founded in 1819, the city was made the capital in 1837. It became the county seat of Sangamon County in 1823. It is a home to the Springfield campus of the University of Illinois. It also serves as a home to the Bunn Company, the global leader in coffee-making equipment and supplies.
