New Haven is a city in the U.S state of Connecticut. It is considered the first planned city in1638 in the country. It became part of the Connecticut Colony in 1664 and was made co-capital of Connecticut in 1701. In 1784, it was incorporated as a city. Due to the numerous elm trees in the city, it has been entitled as ‘the Elm City’. Being in the New Haven County, it is the second-largest city in Connecticut.

Intercity and commuter rail connect the city with other areas. The city has a number of highways that link the city with other states as well as cities.

Places to visit:

The city has a variety of museums such as Connecticut Children’s Museum, the Knights of Columbus museum, the Peabody Museum of Natural History Eli Whitney museum, the Yale Center for British Art, which houses the largest collection of British art and Yale University Art Gallery. The historical Amistad slave ship is a famous historical artifact that is opened to the tourists on their visit to the city. New Haven Colony Historical Society, Marsh Botanical Garden, Pardee-Morris House, Short Line Trolley Museum, Ft. Hale Park and Restoration give a nice break to the people from their hectic schedule. Jazz and cultural festivals held in the city during the summer draws in tourists from far and wide.
