US Route 62, the 12th longest route in the United States, is 2,248 miles long, and covers 10 states, starting from the US-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas, and reaches Niagara Falls, New York. In-between, Route 62 passes through the states of New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. US Route 62, is an east-west route of the United States Numbered Highway System, and the only one to connect with Mexico, to the south of the United States, and Canada, to the north.

From El Paso, the route passes through many cities, some of these are; Lubbock, Brownfield, Oklahoma City, Charleston, Georgetown, Lexington, Washington, Canton, and Buffalo, to name a few. Some major junctions that connect to the Route 62 are; I-65, I-75, I-80, I-79, and I-86. The longest section of the route is located in Texas, and has a total length of 404 miles, while the shortest is in Illinois, with a length of just one mile.

Route 62 is known for the scenic beauty. Driving from one end of the route to the other, you would get glimpses of marvelous sites and attractions located on the route or near the route. Some of these attractions are; Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Simon Kenton Memorial Bridge, The McKinley National Memorial, The Allegheny River Islands Wilderness, among others.
