US Interstate 72 Highway Map
Interstate 72 or I-72 is an interstate highway that is located in the mid-western United States. The western terminus of this highway is Hannibal, Missouri and the eastern at County Fair Drive in Champaign, Illinois. The western terminus intersects with U.S. Route 61. This route covers the major cities like Decatur, Illinois, and Springfield. The Illinois General Assembly dedicated all the Interstate 72 as Purple Heart memorial Highway in 2006. The stretch that is present in between Decatur and Springfield is known as Penny Severns Memorial Expressway, and the segment between Mile 35 and the Mississippi River is called as the Free Frank Mc Worter Historic Highway.
Extent of I-72 Highway
I-72 covers an area of 2 miles of Missouri. The western terminus it has is an interchange with the U.S. Route 61 to the Mark Twain Memorial Bridge that goes over the Mississippi river. The bridge connects two cities, Illinois and Hannibal. As per the current status, in Missouri there are only two exits.
