Cane River Creole National Historical Park (Natchez, LA)
Creoles, a unique culture, can be found in the Cane River region. Families of owners, workers, enslaved, and tenants lived here over generations for more than 200 years. Cane River Creole National Historical Park preserves and tells the story of Oakland and Magnolia Plantations’ cultural landscape. These two plantations are the most intact Creole cotton plantations in the US.

You can take I-49 to reach Oakland Plantation and take Exit 127, Flora/Cypress. Now, move to the east on LA Highway 120 toward Cypress. Cross over LA Highway 1 onto LA Highway 494. Both the entrance pavilion and parking lot of Oakland Plantation are situated around 4.5 miles (7.2 km) east of Highway 1 on the left.
For reaching Magnolia Plantation, take I-49 and use Exit 119, Derry. While on LA Highway 119, move towards the east. Now, cross over LA Highway 1 and drive for 1.1 miles (1.8 km). Magnolia Plantation’s parking area is located on the right just before the road closure.
