River Walk in San Antonio is a chain of roadways which connect the major attractions of the city and are located along the San Antonio River. The River Walk, San Antonio, Texas has a whole range of shops and restaurants and is a popular tourist destination itself. The roadways are constructed at one level lower than the automobile street and offer excellent sightseeing places along the way.

The idea for the River Walk was designed by Robert Hugman during the late 1920’s. The River Walk of San Antonio might be extended further in future as expansion plans are going on for areas lying on the north and south of downtown area. The River Walk in San Antonio is managed by the Pasel del Rio Association which is a non-profit organization. This organization promotes tourists on River Walk with the help of special occasions and events like Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony, Holiday Boat Caroling, Holiday Arts and Crafts Show and others and by publishing the Rio Magazine.

There are several restaurants and shopping destinations by the side of the San Antonio River Walk which provide a relaxing atmosphere and a river-side view as well.
