Peru’s mystic biodiversity and rich Peruvian natural resources have been a magnet for people all over the world. One of the most famous places to visit in Peru is the Huacachina Oasis, located at the center of the sand dunes. Adventurers love to spend time snowboarding, sand buggy riding, row boating, and swimming in the lagoon. Pay a memorable visit to the historic site of the Lima Cathedral (Catedral de Lima) in the populous city of Lima. The cathedral’s architectural-style (the Spanish colonial epoch) structure is an unmissable site. It comprises 15 embellished chapels, the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, and the Cathedral Museum (housing the artifacts of the Spanish colonial era). Peru is also home to one of the mysterious historic and archeological sites – the legendary Nazca Lines, which are characterized by hundreds of Geoglyphs of different shapes and sizes, including gigantic monkeys and spiders, conventionalized plants, imaginary and living beings, and several geometric figures. Other historic sites are the Historic Centre of Lima, the Torre Tagle Palace, and the Larco Museum in the Pueblo Libre District of Lima.

Peru is the kingdom of hypnotic and colorful festivals, rituals, and customs. The not-to-be-missed ‘Danza de Tijeras’ or the Scissor Dance that requires you to jump and dance to the beats of a pair of scissors. One of the Andean rituals is to pay tribute to the earth (the Pachamama) and to the Apus, the mountain spirits. Other attractive festivals are the Inca festival of the Sun (Inti Raymi), the Lord of Miracles (with the largest procession in South America), the Peruvian Paso Horse Competition, the fervor of Ayacucho (the holy week), the Wine Festival, and the Peruvian Carnival.

Kids and adults will love to visit the Huascaran National Park, a preserved region of Peru, consisting of a great multiplicity of terrestrial features like high snow peaks, deep canyons, glacial rivers, lakes, and waterfalls. The park is also home to many prevalent Andean creatures, such as the Peruvian guemal (or huemal), native deer, colocolo, the Peruvian tapir, and the Peruvian puma or cougar, and amazing birds, such as the cordillera hawk, Andean condor, and the huge hummingbird.

During your strolls at the north coast beaches, you can get a marvelous opportunity to watch the local fish catchers working with the reed water crafting (of the ancient Mochica culture) tools. Treasure the moments visiting many important Peruvian plazas, such as the Plaza Mayor (or Plaza de Armas is home to a cathedral and the Archbishop’s Palace), the Plaza Dos de Mayo, and the Plaza San Martin. Do not miss to visit the Trail in the region of Machu Picchu and the Taquile Island on the Lake Titicaca.
