Drive to Melbourne’s suburbs complimented with sea beaches on one side and mountains on the other is as exciting as travelling within the city’s CBD. One fine day in the month of January when weather was quite favorable, we decided to go on a long drive and enjoy some of Melbourne’s scenic country side. The first thing that was on our mind was the Long drive on the Great Ocean road stretch, which is considered as one of the most scenic drives across Australia’s southern coastline. We packed our picnic bags and stuffed them with light snacks and some refreshing drinks and started for our destination.
En route we could witness vast spreads of Greenland and woodlands dotted with small wooden cottages and cows giving a feel of picture perfect countryside. Heaps of rolled dry grass gave a perfect picturesque backdrop. Our entire journey was full of adventure while enjoying blue ocean waters on one side and lush green mountainous ranges on other side dotted with holiday homes.
After almost 3 hours of drive from Melbourne we reached Lorne which is a popular Beach tourist resort town located on the Great Ocean Road between Aireys Inlet and Wye River. It is a small sleepy town which always brims with tourist during peak seasons. There are numerous accommodation options available here for visitors like Self-contained apartments, Caravan parks, Holiday houses, sea facing bungalows and numerous boutique and budget hotels. One of the prominent sea facing foreshores area stretches from Mountjoy Parade to Sandy beaches which is always full of hustle and bustle as it houses some of the best cafes, restaurant and bars providing an unparalleled sea-views.
Sea beaches are always full of visitors who just like to enjoy surfing, camping and enjoying sun-kissed beaches while lying down on its golden sands. Colorful camping huts, beach chairs, people carrying surf board and children playing with sand presents a picture perfect beach side locales.
Lorne is not just a Beach resort but there is more to it in form of Great Otway national park offering many nature trails in form of bushwalks, incredible view of Erskine Falls located just 8 kms west of the town. Do plan a drive to this suburb town and enjoy Great Ocean road and its scenic beauty and carry with you some of the most mesmerizing memories to cherish forever…!
