We Will Rock You is one of the West End’s most popular musicals and based on the songs of legendary rock band Queen and a book written by Ben Elton.

The musical follows a group of Bohemians who set out to restore the freedom of thought, expression and live music in a future where everyone dresses, thinks and behaves the same. It is a world where music is forbidden and rock ‘n’ roll is unknown.

Though slated by critics, the musical has gone on to be an audience favorite, winning the Audience Award for Most Popular Show at the 2011 Laurence Olivier Awards, Britain’s version of the Tony Awards. A number of international productions have also been produced across five continents.

The production is directed by Christopher Renshaw and choreographed by Arlene Phillips. It opened at the Dominion Theatre on May 14, 2002. More than a decade later, it is still performed there today and is one of the longest-running musicals at the venue.

This is considered to be a significant achievement as the Dominion Theatre is one of the largest theatrical venues in London’s West End with a seating capacity of 2,163 audience members.

The show recently extended its run and is currently running until October 26, 2013.
