Review of Om Made Cafe in Bengaluru

Brunches are getting towards the latest fad as more and more people look to spend quality time with friends and family. Just in the last year I’ve seen number of restaurants offering this service in Bengaluru go up. I only ask to some of these is to start a bit early, at least an hour if not more, than to start at 12 noon which is more like a lunch time. This time for a Sunday Brunch, I chose Om Made Cafe in Koramangala, Bangalore, as I’d heard they initially kicked it off in Goa and done well before expanding to this place. I wanted to experience a place more sounding like a home made food than go for something main stream.

The Location

Koramangala has transformed itself in the last decade, it has a wide variety of hotels and restaurants. You would easily find any world cuisine to a small Kannadiga eatery here. Wide spread with all kinds of residences and offices it has become a hot spot in Bengaluru. Om Made Cafe is one such bistro set up on the terrace of the building having Mainland China and a gym.

Address: 136, 1st Cross, 5th Block, Koramangala, Bangalore – 560095

Phone: 080 – 25533369

The Hours

The restaurant is open between 11 AM to 11 PM everyday, however the Sunday Buffet is served from 12 noon until 4 PM. There is a small parking available in the basement, however a valet is always available for street parking.

The Ambiance

Om Made Cafe has been designed by an Italian Architect named Sara Tilche. It sports of a lot of vintage photographs and artifacts, I really liked the old mechanical auto meter, while the walls are decorated with plants. As it is an open terrace, it has a nice view towards a larger Bengaluru. I could spot the famous public utility building on one side of the terrace. The chairs were comfortable, while I felt the tables could be slightly wider to share. The Sunday Brunch also had a small group playing live music which added to enhance the overall experience.

The Service

The buffet is self serve, while the orders on the table were not too efficient and a bit slow. The waiters are friendly, however for the charge of this buffet I would have expected more.

The Price

Sunday Brunch without wine would set you back by INR 1200 ($20) per person while with unlimited domestic drinks it would be INR 1800 ($30) per person.

The Food

The brunch has both a buffet setup and a menu to be ordered from. The Buffet has all the basics like juice, fruits, milk, bread & cheese, dips like aubergine feta, hummus and roasted sweet corn, few salads, a quiche, desserts and some more.

The main course could be ordered on the table, it includes eggs benedictine, bruschetta bread, a choice of pasta, burgers and skewers of fish, chicken and paneer.

The drink options includes Sula wines, few cocktails like white sangria etc.

The menu is fairly limited for a brunch and the serving size of food on the table is limited.  I liked the egg benedictine, few of the dips, penne arrabbiatta and fish skewer while the rest of it wasn’t too great.

The place is not too good for foodie with good appetite, it leaves you longing for more for the price you paid for it. However its a good place to hang out with friends and spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.
