The city of Dalton regarded as the 'Carpet Capital of the World' is located in the state of Georgia, in the USA. It lies at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in northwest Georgia, and is the county seat of the Whitfield County. Approximately 40% of the population speaks Spanish. It is home to many of the world's floor covering manufacturers and has a Mayor- Council form of government. Incorporated in 1847, it is now a highly industrialized city.

The carpets of Dalton offer an endless range and variety from tufted, commercial and patterned ones to oriental rugs, bath mats, etc. With more than 150 plants and approximately 100 outlet stores, Dalton has carpets to cover every type of floor. The city is the center of the US carpet industry.

Some of the local festivals of this city are the Prater's Mill Country fair, Tunnel Hill Civil War Battlefield Reenactment, Celtic Festival, etc. One should travel to Dalton to see its magnificent historic sites and monuments like, the Blunt House, the Confederate Cemetery and Monument, Crown Gardens and Archives and the Dalton Depot, listed on the National Register of Historical Places.

It is the only place in Georgia, outside Atlanta, where two different rail lines, CSX and Norfolk-Southern, converge and run side-by-side.
