Mali 's capital, known as Bamako, has a slightly different geographic coordinate. Bamako's latitude and longitude are, 12° 39' North and 8° 00' West, respectively. As a of this latitude and longitudinal location, Mali has a time that is five hours faster than the Standard Time of Washington DC.
Mali 's latitude and longitude have placed it in the subtropical climate zone where weather is characterized by high heat and humidity level. Mali has two distinctive weathers. Summer season is accompanied with rains and winter season is very dry. During summer Harmattan wind causes high temperature and many hazards in the country. In winter the Alize gives some relief as it makes the climate cold. Precipitation in Mali occurs in between June to October. Mali has three climatic zones also.
