It is really tough to pinpoint to a single place or structure that Nepal is known for because there are too many of them.

Located in South Asia, the picturesque nation of Nepal, which is sandwiched between India and China, is probably well known for the majestic Mount Everest. In fact, the tiny nation, which is known for its diverse terrain, is home to eight out of the ten tallest mountains in the world; and Mount Everest is just one of these. Standing at a height of a whopping 29,029 ft, this amazing natural creation is the highest mountain on earth. It is the dream of every mountaineer, whether amateur or professional, to reach the summit of this majestic mountain.

Also for the followers of Lord Buddha, Nepal is a perfect pilgrimage site worth visiting. Nepal is the place where the founder of Buddhism, Lord Buddha, was born. He was born as Siddhartha Gautama in 563 BC in Lumbini, which is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the country.

Among the man-made creations in Nepal, the first place on the list goes to Pashupatinath Temple. The temple, which is the abode of Lord Pashupatinath, is located approximately five kilometers from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, the temple hosts the popular Maha Shivratri festival which attracts an estimated 800,000 devotees.

Nepal is also one of the few countries in the world which were never colonized by a foreign power. Though it is a small country, Nepal is noted for its fierce Gurkha soldiers. Today, these tough soldiers are not just a part of the Indian army, but the British army as well.

For nature lovers, Nepal is a perfect destination as here you would spot rare animals aplenty. Some of the animals that one would come across while hiking in the forests or national parks of the country are the Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephant, Red Panda, clouded leopard, to name a few.

Thus, there is a lot that Nepal is famous for and this makes a destination worth visiting.
