Qatar Airways is the flag carrier of Qatar.
Qatar Airways, which was founded in 1993 and commenced operations in 1994, is headquartered in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The airline operates from its base at Hamad International Airport and flies to 150 international destinations. With a fleet of more than 180 latest generation aircrafts, Qatar Airways flies to Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America, and Oceania.
Some of the aircrafts in its fleet include; Airbus A320-200, Airbus A321neo, Airbus A330-300, Airbus A350-900, Boeing 777-200LR and many others. Employing around 40,000 people, Qatar Airways was ranked as the world’s top airline in 2017, in the Skytrax World Airline Awards. The airline was earlier voted Airline of the Year in 2011, 2012 and 2015.
The state-owned flag carrier has many subsidiaries which include Qatar Airways Cargo, the Qatar Aircraft Catering Company, Qatar Airways Holidays, United Media Int, Qatar Duty Free, Qatar Aviation Services, Qatar Distribution Company, and Qatar Executive.
In 2013, Qatar Airways joined Oneworld, an airline alliance founded in 1999 and comprising leading international airlines as its members. The alliance has 13 full members and 30 affiliated airlines. Apart from Qatar Airways, the other full members are American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Royal Jordanian, S7 Airlines, LATAM Airlines, SriLankan Airlines, and Finnair.
